Rugby skills

We have been learning Ripper Rugby skills and enjoy chasing each other to collect tags!
Today we practiced our side passes and drop kicks!   and yes this ball did hit the photographer lol!

Happy Handwriters!!!

"Being the Teacher"

Last term I noticed the children role playing a 'Teacher' on my chair and with the giant pointy finger, reading books to each other or giving instructions....  I thought why not give every child the opportunity to be a 'Teacher' and lead and question while building their confidence in speaking to an audience.

So now every morning after Karakia and roll we work out how many children are present, the day, date and weather. A simple routine which I pick a child's name out of the kete to teach.  They have the option to pass and pick a friend but most give it a go and do a great job!

Swimwell programme

We learnt how to 'skull' and 'pencil dive' in life jackets on our last day of the programme, here are some highlights from our time at the aquatic centre.  I would love to thank Irena, Tangiariki, Mabel and Tracey for helping with the changing of tamariki after swimming, it was a huge help!!!

Swimming Lessons

Over the next two weeks instructors are working with us to go through a Swimwell programme and build our skills and confidence in the water.  We are in three different ability groups and learning a variety of things depending on our current skill level...like blowing bubbles, diving for objects, floating on our backs and swimming through the water as far as we can with our head down.  You are welcome to come along and watch, we walk from school around 10:30 to be there and changed by 11:00.  Thank you for packing our togs, towel and bag every day!

Bike Taupo Days

Whaea Cathy has been teaching us about bike safety and control.  We have learnt to fit a helmet to our head firmly, check tyre pressure and brakes, bike slowly around obstacles and over ramps... for some of us it has been the first time without training wheels, YAY!
